To the Slaughter House

Mom emailed me pictures of the steers. I can't remember their names, but that is important. They will be slaughtered on Septemember 9th. Could by a half a steer for 2.25 a pound, but live too far away.

Update on the Kids

I was told I needed to post pictures of the kids. Mom says they weigh about 60 pounds now. She can't take both on a walk at the same time. Joan still has issues walking on a lead. George just loves to take a walk.

George also likes to ride in the flower cart. Harvey has taught them how to ride in a cart. As you can see from this picture, George looked a bit jealous that Joan was in the cart.

I do miss the blossoms in the spring. The fruit trees like the Apple trees will drop the petals and the ground below will look like snow. I don't miss the cold though.

Elk in the Pasture

Mom and Harvey were driving up to their driveway when Harvey noticed Elk in the Pasture. Mom jumped out of the van and told Harvey not to slam the door. She retrieved her camera from inside of the house, and walked slowly onto the patio. I think this picture is a little out of focus, because she was so excited. (It could also be that it was an over cast day. I've found that on gray days, the autofocus doesn't work as well as it does on a bright sunny day.) It shows just how many were in the pasture.

The cow feeding her calf was too far away. She did get one to look at her.

I do miss seeing things like this. It's not unusual to see Elk in a pasture has you drive down highway 101, in Washington.

New Pictures of the Kids

How fast they grow.

George was trying to chase a chicken

Mom has been trying to teach them to walk on a lead. (Dean is planning to show them at the fair.) She says Little Jo refuses to walk. As soon as Mom tries to lead her, she just lies down on the ground. George on the other hand, has no problems.

The Kids Weigh 25 Pounds

Mom says the kids are like puppies. They like to jump up on her. At least George does. Little Joan has been staying away from Mom, since she got her shots. She's not very forgiving.

As you can see this isn't Lady's best side

Update on The Kids

OK you little goat fans.

Little George seams to be asking why. "Why did they have to put bands around my billy goat hood?" Yes he will only be a pet. There will be no kids for him in the future.

I just love the expressions on their little faces.

Little Jo is trying to be like her momma.

I wish they weren't 3300 miles away. But then again, I'm glad I'm not up there. I just got off the phone with Mom and there rain mixed with snow. It may be over cast her in Florida, but at least I have the back door open.

George and Little Jo

Harvey is a little like Linda. Mom says one of the steers was named George (the steer is now in the freezer. Don't worry these goats are milking goats.) Anyways, like Linda he reuses names. That's how the little guy got the name of George.

These pictures were taken in the outside stall. Mom can't get George and Little Jo (Mom named the female after Linda's Mom Joan, since she was born on Joan's birthday) to stay still when they are in the pasture. She says all she gets is butt shots. They are too busy exploring to pose for her.
